Solar macroscope project

Project has begun at ElectriCChain in February 2016, following launch ofCClogo ELCC at MIT Conference on Feb. 22nd

Scope of Work: Millions of solar generators producing near real-time publication of  solar production data.  (IOTA-Token, Grid Singularity and ChainOfThings) are putting forth early single pilot projects for monitoring and maintaining more than 7 million network nodes of solar energy generators.

This project will help on:

– Asserting the Security of the SolarCoin Blockchain, IOTA Tangle and Grid Singularity Blockchain,

– Duplicating the SolarCoin Blockchain/the ElectriCChain to IOTA-Tangle and Ethereum Blockchain through the Solcrypto Sundance Datalogger

– Setting up an ElectriCChain Certification Credit for solar module manufacturers

Skill level: Blockchain/Dev (Medium), Solar (Medium), Monitoring Hardware (High but led by Solcrypto expertise).

Goals: To deliver a “one-size fits all” IOT-datalogger enabling communication standardization applicable to all inverter brands. Datalogger to communicate with the IOTA-Token Tangle, Grid Singularity Blockchain and ElectriCChain/SolarCoin Blockchain, in a most secured way (ChainOfThings).

Background: ElectriCChain is a Blockchain As a Service (BAaS) and will be using the SolarCoin blockchain, also keeping an open and technology agnostic for collaboration and development with other blockchains such as Ethereum, IOTA etc. The main aim of ElectriCChain is to build the largest open scientific solar monitoring system by connecting solar monitoring devices (data loggers, inverters, Raspberry Pi nodes) with the SolarCoin blockchain. We are always on the search for talented developers who can help us with this mission. The “new-language-layer” project is also important as it aims to facilitate building a cross- blockchain language for synchronization between blockchains. As JFK said when he gave a speech about sending a man to the moon,  “We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.” JFK and also a good philosophy that some of us like is “There is no success, no failure, only make. Ongoing project details:

This is the node-red work that helps connect Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Odriod, Mosquitto MQTT, and IOT devices to blockchains. The first examples used will be with the SolarCoin blockchain. Some later work with IOTA.

NR Sunfinder

The Node-red sunfinder script is designed to integrate with the SolarCoin Block Explorer at and extract solar PV generation data from the SolarCoin blockchain. A similar python script can also be found if you prefer python and

This small script that plugs directly into Node-red allows the user to scrape the SLR blockchain by interacting with the SLR chains inbuilt 523 character TX Message Space.

In the ELCCv1 standard that we wrote in python we setup the protocol for the 523 character space. Then the NR sunfinder can crawl that script and find out interesting information that is being emitted to the SLR chain in real time.

End Dream: Producing a Standardised “plug-and-play” Datalogger communicating with any inverter brand, connected to the ElectriCChain.

Timeline: POC’s are out in the field for testing with Version 1 of Blockchain Datalogger, embedding SLR Blockchain cleantech valeranden
